Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Unconformably rests upon the eroded surface of intrusive and volcanic bodies of Mesozoic age (e.g., the Late Cretaceous volcanics of the Don Duong Fm and the Nha Trang Fm). Regionally, it is coeval with the Di Linh Fm of central Lam Dong province.

Upper contact

Quaternary

Regional extent

In the South Trung Bo Coastal Basin, the Upper Miocene-Pliocene sequence includes only the Song Luy Fm of Pliocene age. The Song Luy Fm occurs, in the Thanh Chau area (3 km north of Luong Son), in the valley of the Song Luy River, in the plain of the Song Mao River and in the Mo Thap. area, south of Mavieck Mt. It has also been found in Luong Son area boreholes.
